What is the difference between ZENmix Creator and your Packs/Bundles?
The ZENmix Creator and our packs/bundles are complementary offers for different uses.
Use the Creator app when you want to mix your own soundscape/track based on our sounds. It’s best if you want to customize the music for your guided meditations, etc.
If you want pre-made and ready-to-use meditation music, then pick a pack or bundle.
A few base melodies are shared between the Creator app and our first packs: Roots, Positive Flow, and Dreamscape. After that, the music does not overlap and is unique to each offer.
Licensing (Creator App and Packs)
The Creator app and our pre-made packs and bundles share the same hassle-free and straightforward license.
Why Is your royalty-free music not free?
That’s a common misconception and understandable if you’ve never dealt with any licensing before.
Royalty-free music is not free as in free beer. Royalty-free means that you don’t have to pay any royalties to the rightsholder for continued use. Classically, you had to pay for every use and with sometimes strict view or usage limits like limited to 5000 CD sales or 5000 downloads.
However, not so with royalty-free music. Instead, you pay for the license once and can use it forever and how often you want.
I want to use music for a Youtube meditation video. Is that allowed?
Yes.
You can use the music in your YouTube meditation videos and monetize them. Please also read how to handle YouTube claims.

Will I get Claims on YouTube?
We do not claim. However, YouTube’s Content ID system is flawed and you might get claims for the stupiest stuff like rain sounds, ocean waves or generic swirls because of false detection. They are easy to resolve. Please read why and how to handle YouTube claims.
Can I create a video of several nature videos with your music?
Yes.
You can use the music in your YouTube relaxation videos and monetize them.

Can I use this music as background for my guided meditations and sell those meditations?
Yes as long as your customer is only listening to your meditations.
You can not grant resell rights to your customer as we don’t allow reselling, sublicensing, or redistribution of our music this way.

Can I use your music on Spotify, Amazon Music, iTunes, etc?
Distribution to music stores like Spotify, Amazon Music, iTunes, and similar is generally prohibited. You can not use a music distributor like DistroKid, Amuse, RouteNote, or similar to publish our music.
However, you can use the music in your guided meditations, affirmations, or audiobooks where your voice is audible and publish those to Spotify Podcasts, Amazon Audiobooks, iTunes Podcasts, and similar non-music sections. That’s considered part of your work.
Note that you can NOT distribute to any service that uses a form of Content ID Matching system like YouTubes Content ID system or “Sync Licensing”, as the copyright for our music remains with ZENmix and its producers.
Can I use your music in my meditation or relaxation app?
Yes. You can play the music as-is in your app and monetize the app. Your users can listen to the music with or without a guided meditation overlay.
Your app users are limited to personal consumer use only — they can not use the music commercially, redistribute it, or use it in their own projects. If they need commercial rights, they need their own license from us.
Your users must not be able to export or download the music files. Streaming and bundled audio playback within the app are both fine. If it’s a web app, audio files must be protected behind authentication so users can not simply find and download the audio files via URL. Streaming protocols like HLS are preferred.
If your app includes a soundscape mixing feature (e.g., adding rain or ocean sounds over the music), the mixing must be limited to 10 sounds in total. Anything beyond that gets too close to our own Player app and is not permitted.

Can I sell my guided meditations on Insight Timer?
Yes, if your voice is audible in the meditation. It’s considered part of your work then.
However, you can not publish just the music on Insight Timer without an audible guided voice. That would count as music-only distribution, which is not allowed — similar to Spotify and other music stores.

Can I use your music for Subliminals?
It depends on the license and how you distribute the end product.
Standard License: You can use the music with subliminals in apps or videos (e.g., YouTube, Vimeo). However, you can not sell or distribute subliminal tracks as audio-only products (e.g., MP3 downloads), because subliminals are inaudible and the result is effectively distributing our music as-is.
Subliminal License: This license allows audio-only subliminal products as well. It is only available for a small selected set of tracks. All tracks and packs are marked with their license type.

ZENmix Creator App
Why is the Creator plan so expensive?
It might look expensive to you at first, especially if you have never dealt with commercial music licensing before. If you do, you’ll notice how affordable ZENmix is and how few restrictions the ZENmix license has.
For example, if you buy mediation music at competitors, you pay on average $50 per pre-made song, no way of mixing, and a restrictive licensing that limits you in use cases or the number of sold copies for guided meditations, etc.
I do believe in high-quality music with few restrictions that do not cost an arm and a leg. But your opinion might differ and you’re free to choose.
Can I download the individual audio files?
No. You can NOT download the files for local use.
However, you can use our direct export feature to export your mixes as MP3s (Requires the Creator plan) or stream them.
Will my subscription renew automatically?
Yes, once you’re subscribed to the Creator or Premium plan, your subscription will renew automatically on the next billing date. Unless you downgrade to the Free Account plan or pause your subscription at least 24 hours before the next billing date.
Can I cancel my subscription at any time?
Yes, you can cancel your subscription and downgrade to the Free Account plan at any time.
The changes become effective at the end of the already paid period. Until then, you can enjoy the Premium plan. When the already paid period is over, you will be automatically downgraded to the Free Account plan.
Can I continue to use my downloaded music when I cancel the subscription?
You can continue to use your already published work using our music downloaded under an active subscription. But you can not publish new works using our music that you previously downloaded.
What happens with unused downloads in a period?
The export/download allowance rolls over month to month but all remaining exports are forfeited upon cancellation at the end of the subscription period.
Export Credits will stay until you used them up or the end of life of the product or ZENmix; but we don’t want that to happen too :-).
What is Unlimited Live Music Streaming?
The Creator subscription allows you to play a mix live in your yoga classes, therapy sessions, spa, gym, brick-and-mortar store, or in live streams on Twitch, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, etc.
Publishing live streams as on-demand videos is not considered streaming and requires an export of the track, which counts forward your export allowance.
ZENmix Player App
What is Personal Streaming?
You can listen to your ZENmix mixes on all of your devices. Nobody else is allowed to access your account. It is fine to play the mixes in your living room with family and friends around, but it is NOT permitted to play the mixes for any commercial purposes or anything that goes beyond normal family life.
Do You Have a Mobile App or the ZENmix Player?
Yes, there’s a legacy app for iOS and Android. However, it hasn’t been updated for a long time and there are no plans to add new sounds, etc in the near future.
For the latest sounds and features, use the web app.
Payments
Is ordering from ZENmix secure?
Yes.
I use Paddle.com for all my payments. They are a reseller and are a leading payment provider loved in the software world. Maybe that’s because some of you don’t know them. I never had any issue with them on both sides - buying and selling.
Plus, I never see any credit card details, which I love because they take care of all the security, and I have to worry less and you too.
What are my payment options?
You can pay with cards by Mastercard, Visa, Maestro, American Express, Discover, Diners Club, JCB, UnionPay, PayPal, or Apple Pay. Payment is handled by our resell partner Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the merchant of record.
Why is the price on checkout different?
Local sales taxes that apply to your location.
Taxes are handled by Paddle too and they determine the correct taxes based on your details. The price shown on the checkout is always including all sales taxes.
All prices on the ZENmix website are shown in USD and without local taxes as it’s easier for most of my customers.
And in case, any local sales tax applies to your order it is immediately shown after opening the checkout.
I can tell you, this tax stuff is ridiculously complicated. That’s why I am happy that Paddle also takes care of this for me.
Do you offer refunds?
No, like most other online shops we don’t offer refunds as our music is delivered as digital downloads.
You can listen to a preview of every song and decided beforehand if it suits your needs.
